Peters - The community of North Rustico was saddened to learn of the sudden passing from a heart attack early Thursday morning, October 23, 1958, of one of its most highly respected citizens in the person of Joseph L. Peters.  Born at North Rustico the late Mr. Peters lived there all his life.  He was 76 years of age and although retired from active work he enjoyed comparatively good health, took a keen interest in community affairs and was very proud of the economic advancement his native village had made during his lifetime.  Of a kindly disposition he was a general favourite with young and old alike and he will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends.  In 1930 the late Mr. Peters was bereaved by the loss of his wife (formerly Angelina Peters).  There are left to mourn his passing, four sons and three daughters, namely Marshall, Midgell; (Rose) Mrs. Arthur Journeau; Ella and Austin all on Montreal, P.Q., (Flora) Mrs. Ray Johan, Moncton, N.B., Stephen and Gussie, North Rustico.  A daughter, (Louise) Mrs. Lawrence Gallant; and a son Lawrence predeceased their father.  Twenty one grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.  His funeral took place on Monday morning October 27th from his late residence to Stella Maris Church.  Requiem Mass was sung by the Pastor, Rev. Father Ayres.  His remains were laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery, there to wait a glorious resurrection, when Christ shall say to his faithful servants: "Come ye blessed of My Father, possess the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."  The pallbearers were: Archibald Hartlin, Joseph S. Notes for Angelina Pitre:

Obituary:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Saturday, 24 January 1931:  In Memoriam - Mrs. Joseph Peters - On December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a very sad death occurred at the Charlottetown Hospital, when Mrs. Joseph Peters of North Rustico was called to her eternal reward.  Under all circumstances death is sad; it is particularly so when the mother of a young family, in the prime of her young womanhood is taken off after a brief illness of only a few hours, leaving behind her, a disconsolate husband and a large family of small and well-beloved children.  But such is Nature's decree; and we must, one and all, in humility and submission, bow to the hand of Him who is all love and knows best.  The deceased who was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Peters, was born thirty-eight years ago at Hope River where she resided until her marriage to Mr. Joseph Peters of North Rustico.  In her new home, her gentle, kindly, hospitable nature, her sunny and amiable disposition, her deep devotion to her husband and family endeared her to a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.  She was a splendid type of loving wife and devoted mother, ever ready to sacrifice herself to lighten the burden and cares of her family and friends.  She was always a willing worker in every activity that tended to the welfare of the community in which she lived.  She will be much missed by her neighbors and friends and her husband and children above all, will ever remember her kindly ministrations, her ever anxious care, and her gentle and cheering voice, now stilled forever.  Her funeral was held from her late residence at North Rustico, to St. Augustine Church, on December 9th.  Requiem High Mass was celebrated by her pastor, Mgr. Jean Chaisson, D.D., who also pronounced the last sad rites at the grave.  The pall bearers were: Messrs. Michael Doyle, Edmund Gallant, Karl Binns, Henry Peters, Marshall Gallant and Luke Gallant.  Besides the sorrowing husband and the following children: Rose, Louise, Floradele, Ella May, Martial, Lawrence, Austin, Stephen, Augustine, there are left to mourn, her aged mother, three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Peters, and Mrs. Luke Gallant, of Charlottetown; Mrs. A. E. Doucette, Rusticoville; and two brothers, Augustine Peters, Cape Traverse, and James Peters, of Charlottetown.  Three children have predeceased her.  Mass cards were received from:- The family, her mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peters, Mr. and Mrs. John Gallant, Mrs. Wm. Deagan and family, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Binns, Mr. and Mrs. James Peters, Helen Doucette, Peter and Helen McElmeel, Mamie Trainor, Mr. and Mrs. Howatt, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peters and family, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Gallant, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Doucette, and family, Mr. Augustine Peters, Mr. and Mrs. James Peters and family.  Spiritual Bouquets:- Mr. and Mrs. John Doiron.  Crescent:- Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Pineau.  Messages of Sympathy:- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Callaghan, Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, Mr. and Mrs. R. T. White, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Doiron, Boston; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bulgar, Hope River; Mrs. Theophilus Doucette, Medford, Mass.; Miss Alice Boyce, Charlottetown; Miss Delma Gauthier, North Rustico; Mrs. F. A. Driscoll, Charlottetown; Miss Mary Dugan, Mr. Alden Carr.

Louise Peters:  Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), 19 April 1940:  In Memoriam - Mrs. Lawrence Gallant - The people of North Rustico and vicinity were deeply grieved on hearing of the death of Mrs. Lawrence Gallant, nee Louise Peters, which occurred at North Rustico on Monday, March 4th.  Death seems always sad in all circumstances but doubly so in this case as the deceased was cut off in the flower of her youth, being only twenty-three, and she leaves to mourn their irreparable loss a disconsolate husband and a family of four small children, one an infant of only a few days.  Her mother died under similar circumstances a few years ago, she also leaving a large family of small children.  Her father Joseph Peters of North Rustico survives, also the following named brothers and sisters: Rose, who returned from Montreal on hearing of the illness, Marshal of Sydney, Stephen, Austin, Gussie, Florence, and Ella at home.  The large crowd who attended the funeral was a manifestation of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.  The funeral took place at Stella Maris Church, North Rustico on March 6th, Rev. Father McNeill officiating at the church and grave.  The pall bearers were: Messrs. Earl Gallant, Claude Peters, Vincent Gallant, Paul Gallant, Ernest Blacquiere, James Peters.

Florence A. Peters:  Florence A. Jonah (Peters) 82, of Riverview and formerly of North Rustico, PE with her daughter at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday July 29, 2007.  Born in North Rustico, PE, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Peters) Peters.  Florence was a retired employee at Village Bake Shop Moncton and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Riverview.  Florence was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, hunting, bingo but most importantly spending time with her family and friends.  Florence will be sadly missed by her husband of over 53 years, Raye C. Jonah; daughter, Wendy R. Doucette (Blair), North Rustico, PE; sons, Stephen (Jane), Riverview; Trevor, Wheatley River, PE; grandchildren, Jamie, Kevan, Erin, Andrew and Tyler.  Sister, Ella McLeod, North Rustico, PE; daughter-in-law, Myra Jonah, Edmonton, AB; several sisters in law, nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Marshall, Stephen, Austin and Gussie; sisters, Louise and Rose.  Visitation at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, PE, Thursday 6-9pm.  Funeral Mass at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church Friday August 3, 2007, 10am; Rev.
