Passport:  Passport issued 5 Oct 1920: Zephirin Pitre, travel to Cuba; born at Loreauville, LA, 2 Dec 1894; father Adam Pitre born in LA and residing at New Iberia, LA; intending to return within 12 months; going to Cuba for employment; leaving from N.O. on United Frick SS Co. on 23 Oct 1920; age 25, 6', high forehead, brown eyes, pug nose, wide mouth, round chin, black hair, dark complexion, round face.

 

Obituary from company publication (News and Views):  Zepherin Joseph Pete was born at Loreauville, La., Iberia Parish, on Dec. 2, 1894, the son of Adam Pete and Marie Louise Darce.  Most of Pete's working life was spent in the field of operating-engineering, having worked at the Maria Sugar Mill at Loreauville, the Billeaud Sugar Refinery, Broussard, and the Vida Sugar Refinery, Loreauville.  He went into the Armed Services of our Country September 18, 1917, and was first stationed at Camp Beauregard, Alexandria.  From there, he was sent to Camp Jackson, South Carolina.  He left the States July 31, 1918, landing at Liverpool, England on Aug. 11th of the same year, and reported to LaHavre, France, August 14th of that year.  While in France, because of his knowledge of the French language, he served as an interpreter.  He returned to the United States in 1919 and was discharged, with an honorable discharge, at Camp Shelby, Miss., on April 11, 1919.  In the latter part of 1919, he went to Preston, Cuba, where he worked for the United Fruit Company until 1922.  Later in 1922, he went to work with the city of New Iberia in the electric generating plant.  This property was acquired in late 1925 by Gulf Public Service Company, and Pete was retained in the power plant where he continued faithfully with hardly a day's interruption in his work until April 17, 1950.  On that date, he suffered a severe stroke and was unable to work thereafter.  On June 28th of this year he suffered the second stroke from which he did not survive.  Funeral services were conducted at St. Peter's Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass on July 2, 1955 and interment was in the St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, New Iberia.

Doris Cecelia leblancPete:  The Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Tuesday, 8 December 1998:  New Iberia - Services for Doris Pete Burke, 73, will be at 3 p.m. today at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery under direction of David Funeral Home of New Iberia.  Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until the services.  She died Sunday at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia.

Dorothy Lee Pete:  Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Lennet J. LeBlanc, the former Dorothy "Dot" Lee Pete, age 82 at 11:00 am on Monday, November 16, 2009 St Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia with Father Donovan Labbe officiating.  Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum.  Mrs. LeBlanc passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at 7:40 am in a New Iberia Hospital.  The family is requesting visiting hours Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and will resume Monday, November 16, 2009 from 8:00 am until time of services.  A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 6:30 pm.  Mrs. LeBlanc was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia.  She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and ceramics.  Mrs. LeBlanc is survived by her children, Cinda L. Garner and her husband Allen of Houma, La., Priscilla LeBlanc of New Iberia, La., Lynette L. Guidry of New Iberia, and Sheri L. Viator and her husband Patrick of New Iberia; her brothers, Gene Pete of New Iberia and Robert Pete of Pineville; her grandchildren, Dan Garner, David Garner and Angela Sharpe all of Houma, Heather Romero of Youngsville, Ronald Guidry III of Larose, Ryan Guidry and Nikki Guidry both of Golden Meadow, Ren Guidry of Galliano and Stacey Duet of Houma, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  Mrs. LeBlanc is preceded in death by her husband Lennet J. LeBlanc; her parents Zepherin Pete and Elda Ransonet Pete; her son, Karl LeBlanc; her brother Thomas Gerami; and her sisters, Margaret Jenkins, Victoria Hagan, and Doris Burke, and a grandson Allen Garner, Jr.  Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Garner, David Garner, Ronald Guidry III, Ryan Guidry, Ren Guidry, Gary Billiot, and Shane Garner.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Hospice of Acadiana.

Eugene Adam Pete:  The Daily Iberian (New Iberia, LA), Tuesday, 7 August 2012:  New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Gene Pete, age 75, at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Duhon, Jr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm.  The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Wednesday until service time.  A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Pete passed away at 7:40 am on Monday, August 6, 2012 at his residence.  Mr. Pete was a member of the US Marine Corps Reserve who served his country for six years and was honorably discharged.  He was employed as a Marketing Representative for BellSouth and was also employed at Security Industrial Insurance and Himel Marine.  He was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church and made a Cursillo in Prairie Ronde.  His loves of music lead to many hours of playing and recording music. He also enjoyed traveling, dancing and spending time with his family.  Mr. Pete is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ronnie Babineaux Pete of New Iberia; one son, Gil Pete and wife Pam of Lafayette; one daughter, Tanya P. Thibodeaux and husband Todd of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Jared Thibodeaux, Jake Thibodeaux, Alexis Pete and Macie Pete; two step grandchildren, Heather Guillory and Cody Richard; three step-great grandchildren, Dillon Richard, Makayla Guillory and Brennan Guillory.  He is also survived by one brother, Bobby Pete and wife Martha of Pineville and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Zepherin Pete; mother Elda Ronsonet Pete; step father, Johnny Tartimus; one brother, Tommy Gerami; four sisters, Margaret Jenkins, Dorothy Lee LeBlanc, Doris Burke and Vicky Hagan and his infant grandson, Brennan Pete.  Pallbearers will be Gil Pete**, Todd Thibodeaux, Lloyd Armentor, Donald Poche, Preston Guillotte and Bryan Gautreaux.  Honorary pallbearers will be Whitney Gautreaux, Charles Hagan, Bobby Burke, Bobby Pete, Chip Lopez and his nieces and nephews.  The family would like to thank Paramount Hospice, Dr. Kenneth Ritter, and his caregivers, Sheila, Dorothy, Bobby, Sandy, Rhonda and Jared; and special thanks to Nona and Caryn for their concern and support.  Memorial donations may be made in his name to Paramount Hospice, 101 La Rue France, Suite 301, Lafayette, LA 70508.  Evangeline Funeral Homes, Inc. of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.

 

Robert John Pete:  Funeral services for Mr. Robert John Pete will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.  Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Gardens, Pollock, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.  Mr. Pete, 82, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 2, 2020, at Woods Haven Nursing Home, Pollock, LA.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War and was an aircraft mechanic.  He worked in the oilfield as a diver’s tender, also worked as a fireman and a custodian at Horseshoe Drive Baptist Church.  He was also an ordained minister and a member of Journey Church.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Zephran and Elda Pete; three brothers and three sisters.  Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty years, Martha Loper Pete, of Pineville; one son, Robert Joseph Pete and his wife, Wendy, of Texarkana, TX.; one daughter, Suzanne Marie Pete Palmer and her husband, Lee, of Pollock; three grandchildren, Amber Smith and her husband, Brian, of Lafayette, Jeremiah Deare and his wife, Sarah, of Lafayette and Micah Pete, of Texarkana, TX. and two great grandchildren, Reagan Smith and Jackson Smith.  A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Visitation will resume on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
