Obituary: L'Evangeline (Moncton, NB), 26 March 1954: St. Jean Baptiste de Restigouche, NB - Mr. Salomon Pitre, aged 51, passed away on March 17 at Soldier's Memorial Hospital in Campbellton. A World War I veteran, Mr. Pitre had been ill for three years. He is survived by his wife, nee Esther Parent, and six children: Normand, Alphonse from Manitoba, Philias from St-Fidele, Jerome, Mrs. Alexandre Doucet (Eugenie), and Mrs. Andre Glazer (Lea). The funeral took place at the parish church on March 19, and he was buried in the parish cemetery. The service was sung by the priest, Father Armand Labrie. The deceased was a member of the Canadian Legion, and all the pallbearers were veterans: Frank LeBlanc, Joseph Leonard, Sandy Allard, Roland Dube, Ferdinand J. Gallant, Philippe Pitre, with Frank Leonard carrying the cross.
