Margaret Ann Peters: The Boston Globe (Boston, MA), Thursday, 9 January 2014: (photo) Cooney, Margaret A. (Peters) Age 77, Margaret passed away Nov. 30, 2013 in Denver, NC after a long illness through which she bravely persisted. She was attended to the last by her family. Formerly, a long-time resident of Lynnfield, MA, Margaret was the daughter of Reginald and Bernadette Peters of Boston. Peggy, born September 25, 1936, spent her early years in Milford, MA with Dr. Joseph & Barbara McLellan. Margaret (Peggy) was the wife of Michael E. Cooney Jr. with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. And she was mother of Michael Cooney V (his wife Danielle) and grandmother of their son Colin. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Susan Leigh in 1983 and her godchild Colleen Kilroy in 1997. She was also predeceased by 3 brothers: Joseph Peters, James Peters, and J. Robert Peters. She leaves many nieces and nephews. She worked for many years as a music teacher in several public school systems in greater Boston. Later she became owner/manager of a commercial travel agency in Washington, DC. In her recent years of retirement she went to live in the south near their son on Lake Norman. Margaret preferred to have no public wake/funeral, but rather a celebration of life, open to all. Please join us in our musical celebration, which will be held on Jan. 12, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Center Congregational Church of Lynnfield, Lynnfield, MA. The interment on Jan. 13 will be private. Arrangements were made by Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver, NC.
