Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 19 August 1979:  Last rites will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas for Jules P. Pitre, 79, of Prairie Rhonde, who died suddenly at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Opelousas General Hospital.  Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Prairie Rhonde directed by the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the old Sunset Highway in Opelousas.  Survivors include his wife, the former Helen Pearl Fontenot of Prairie Rhonde; three sons, Gerald Pitre of Opelousas, Earl Pitre of Metairie and Kenneth Pitre of Chalmette; two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Myra) Gass of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Francis (Beverly) Doucet of Grand Prairie; one brother, Walter Pitre of Lawtell; one sister, Mrs. Edgar (Ella) Prudhomme of Lawtell; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was a member of the Elks Club of Opelousas.

Obituary:  Lake Charles American Press (Lake Charles, LA), 15 August 2000:  Prairie Ronde - Funeral services for Mrs. Jules (Pearl Fontenot) Pitre, 97, of Opelousas, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  The Rev. Austin Leger will officiate.  Entombment will be in the church mausoleum under the direction of Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Homes of Opelousas.  Visitation is 4-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Wednesday.  Mrs. Pitre died at 12:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in an Opelousas care center.  She was a housewife.  Survivors include three sons, Gerald Pitre of Opelousas, Earl Pitre of Lake Charles and Kenneth Pitre of Chalmette; two daughters, Myra P. McGinnis of Denham Springs and Beverly P. Doucet of Grand Prairie; one sister, Gladys Hidalgo of Opelousas; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
