Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Tuesday, 28 December 1954:  Joseph John Peters - Orono, Dec 27 - Joseph John Peters, 77, husband of the late Catherine Peters, died at the home of Miss Madelyn R. Duffy, 4 Mill Street, Orono, late Sunday night.  He was born in Bangor, June 11, 1877, son of the late John and Anastasid (Doyle) Peters.  Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Orono Pulp and Paper Company, and had operated a filling station in Hancock for 17 years, returning to Orono two years ago.  Mr. Peters was a social member of Joseph Orono Council, Knights of Columbus.  He is survived by one brother, Bernard Peters, Portland; three sisters, Miss Gertrude C. Peters and Mrs. Frances Traynor, both of Waterville; and Mrs. Martha Haggerty, Utica, N.Y., several nieces and nephews.  Requiem High Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic Church.  The Rev. Thomas M. Nelligan will officiate.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono.  Remains are at the Joseph R. LaBeau Funeral Home, 9 Pine Street, Orono, where friends may call.

Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Friday, 10 January 1947:  Mrs. Catherine Peters - Orono, Jan. 9 - Mrs. Catherine (Cassie) Peters, of Hancock, died suddenly this morning at the home of her sister, Miss Madolyn Duffy, 43 Mill street, where she came yesterday for a few days' rest.  Mrs. Peters, wife of Joseph Peters, was born in Bangor, daughter of the late Frank and Eva Gordon Duffy.  Mr. and Mrs. Peters formerly made their home in Orono; but for the past twelve years have lived in Hancock.  She was well-known as cashier at the Park theater, Bangor, for several years.  Surviving, besides her husband and sister, are two nephews, Victor and Cecil Hewes, and a niece, Mrs. Robert Lawler, all of Woburn, Mass.  High Mass of Requiem will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in Orono, Saturday morning, 9 o'clock, and interment will be in Riverside cemetery.
