Obituary:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 12 March 1959:  Last rites were read at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. for Joseph Pitre, 69-year-old retired farmer, who died at an Alexandria hospital Monday following a long illness.  He is survived by three sons, Dallas, Murray and Leo of Ville Platte, nine daughters, Mrs. Percy Credeur and Mrs. Arvin Smith of Opelousas, Mrs. Jack D. Pardue of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mrs. Thomas Arnold, Mrs. James C. Andrews and Joycelyn Pitre of Lafayette, Mrs. Norman Nelson of New Orleans, Marietta Pitre of Mandeville and Mrs. William Sasoncia of New York, and twelve grandchildren.  Interment was in the Sacred Heart cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.

Obituary:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 8 June 1950:  Mrs. Joseph Pitre Funeral is Held here on Tuesday - Mother of Twelve Succumbs in New Orleans after 3-weeks illness - Funeral services were conducted here Tuesday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic church for Mrs. Joseph Pitre, 58, who died in New Orleans Monday morning following an illness of about three weeks.  Interment was in the adjacent Catholic cemetery with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. M. Bourgeois officiating.  Mrs. Pitre, the former Alida Soileau, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hebrard Soileau, who resided many years age just East of this city in the section known then as the 'point de Baillon.'  She is survived by her husband; three sons, Dallas, Leo, and Murray, all of Ville Platte; and by nine daughters, Mrs. Percy Credur, of Opelousas, and by the Misses Mary Etta, Mattie, Hazel, Anna Lee, Bertha Lynn, Dora Dean, Maryland, and Joycelyn Pitre.  Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Alex, Charles, Francois, Mark, Aldes, and Alfred and Mrs. Lawrence Ortego, Mrs. Lemart Dupre, Mrs. Lawrence Soileau, and Mrs. Yves Soileau.  She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Leo Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Wednesday, 22 December 1971:  Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Leo Pitre 55-year-old Ville Platte area farmer who died at the Ville Platte Medical Center at 9 a.m. Saturday following a long illness.  Burial was in the old Ville Platte cemetery directed by L'Angelus Funeral Home.  Survivors include his wife, the former Alice Vidrine; one son, Joseph Honore Pitre; and one daughter, Miss Sherry Dean Pitre of Ville Platte; two brothers, Dallas and Murray Pitre, both of Ville Platte.  Also surviving are nine sisters, Mrs. Johnny Maddox of New Orleans, Mrs. Percy Credeur of Opelousas, Mrs. Jack Pardue of Springhill, Mrs. Tom Arnaud of Lafayette, Mrs. Norman Nelson of New Orleans, Mrs. James C. Dallas Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 18 April 1993:  Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church here at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 1993, for Mr. Dallas Pitre, 73, with burial following in the M. B. Fontenot Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 10:56 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the V. A. Hospital in Alexandria, after a long illness.  Mr. Pitre was a retired farmer.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lou F. Pitre of Ville Platte; six sons, Felix Pitre of Lafayette, Richard Pitre of Alexandria, Va., Dallas Pitre, Jr., Louis Pitre, Eric Pitre and David Pitre, all of Ville Platte; seven sisters, Mary Elta Pitre, Opelousas, Mazel Arnould of Lafayette, Berta Andrews of Willis, Texas, Mattie Pardou of Shreveport, Annie Nelson, Jackson, Miss., Doris SansSaoucie of Lafayette and Joycelyn Maddux of Lafayette; and 11 grandchildren.

 

Marie Agnes Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 28 January 1993:  St. Landry - Funeral services were held for Mrs. Marie Agnes Pitre Credeur, 72, on Monday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. at the St. Landry Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery under the direction of Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home.  Mrs. Credeur, a resident of Opelousas, died Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Opelousas General Hospital.  She was a native of Ville Platte, a graduate of USL in education, attended LSU and was a graduate of the Lafayette Diocese School of Theology.  She taught elementary school at Opelousas Catholic and Little Flower School in Arnaudville.  She was a religious instructor for St. Landry Catholic Church and an Eucharistic lay minister.  Mrs. Credeur was the recipient of the 1992 Diocese of Lafayette Bishop Service's Award.  In 1993, she received a CODOFIL scholarship to study in France.  Survivors include her husband, Fred Credeur, Sr. of Opelousas; two sons, Fred Credeur of Opelousas and Joe Credeur of Houston, Texas; one brother, Dallas Pitre of Ville Platte; seven sisters, Mary Eta Pitre of Opelousas, Mattie Pardue of Shreveport, Annie Lee Nelson of Jackson, Miss., Bertha Lynn Andrews, Dora San Soucie and Joycelyn Maddox, all three of Lafayette; and three grandchildren.

 

Mary Eta Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Sunday, 3 October 1993:  Miss Mary Eta Pitre - Opelousas - Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 2, for Ms. Mary Eta Pitre, 70, with burial following in M. B. Fontenot Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte.  Ms. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas and native of Ville Platte, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, September 30, at Lafayette Guest Home, after a long illness.  Survivors include six sisters, Mattie Pardue of Shreveport, Annie Lee Nelson of Jackson, Mississippi, Bertha Lynn Andrews of Willis, Texas, Dory San Soucie, Jocelyn Maddux and Hazel Arnold, all of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers Leo, Murray and Dallas Pitre and sisters Merlyn Smith and Agnes Credeur.

 

Mattie Pitre:  The Times (Shreveport, LA), Saturday, 16 July 1994:  (photo) Shreveport, LA - Services for Mrs. Mattie Pitre Pardue, 69, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 1994 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Rev. David Richter, pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Forest Park.  Mrs. Pardue died Thursday, July 14, 1994 after a long illness.  She was born in Ville Platte, La. and had resided in Shreveport since 1983.  Mrs. Pardue was a certified school teacher, a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.  She is survived by her husband, Dempsey Pardue; two sons, Rev. John D. Pardue both of Shreveport, Andrew J. Pardue of Sterling, VA; four daughters, Mary Anne Lard of Harrisburg, PA, Patricia A. Primos, Donna M. Collins, Claudia S. Wells all of Shreveport; five sisters, Hazel Arnold of Lafayette, La., Annie L. Nelson, Jackson, MS, Bertha Andrews, Willis, TX, Dora San Soucie and Joy Maddux both of Lafayette, La.; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be James Lard, Terry Primos, Tim Collins, David Wells, Felix Pitre, Freddy Credeur.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Pitre, Jr., Joe Credeur, Mike Smith, Paul San Soucie, Eric Pitre and Louis Pitre.  The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Murray Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 10 May 1987:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Murray Pitre, 60, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church here with burial in the old Ville Platte Cemetery.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Ville Platte, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in New Orleans Charity Hospital after a short illness.  Survivors include a brother, Dallas Pitre of Ville Platte; nine sisters, Mrs. Agnes Credeur of Opelousas, Miss Marie Etta Pitre of Opelousas, Mrs. Mattie Pardue of Shreveport, Hazel Arnold of Lafayette, Anna Lee Nelson of Jackson, Miss., Bertha Lynn Andrews of Houston, Texas, Dora Lynn Sansusie and Marilyn Smith, both of Baton Rouge, Joycelyn Madeaux of Lafayette.  Ardoin Funeral Home of Ville Platte directed.

Hazel Pitre:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Thursday, 20 February 2003:  (photo) Lafayette - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jules Catholic Church for Hazel Pitre Arnould, 74, who died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Rehabilitaion Hospital of Acadiana.  The Rev. John Dempsey Pardue, pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Many, will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.  Musical selections of 'Panis,' 'Be Not Afraid," "Like A Shepherd," "Ave Maria" and "Amazing Grace" will be performed to Joni Hamilton.  Interment will take place in Holy Mary, Mother of God Cemetery.  Mrs. Arnould, a native of Ville Platte, was the daughter of the late Joseph Pitre and the former Alida Soileau.  She was a member of the St. Jules Catholic Church community and the Catholic Daughters.  Survivors include her husband, Thomas Arnould; two daughters, Julie A. Thibodeaux and her husband, Rusty, and Theresa 'Claire' Arnould, all of Lafayette; one son, Tommy Arnould Jr.; four sisters, Bertha P. Andrews and her husband, Jim, of Willis, Texas, Dory P. Sansoucie and Joycelyn Maddux, both of Lafayette, and Annie Lee Nelson and her husband, Dr. Norman C. Nelson, of Jackson, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Thibodeaux.  She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and three brothers.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday until time of the services.  A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.  Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, are funeral directors in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Dory Pitre:  The Ville Platte Gazette (Ville Platte, LA), Thursday, 10 October 2019:  (photo)  Mary Dory Pitre - March 15, 1934 - October 3, 2019 - Ville Platte - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, October 11, 2019, for Mary Dory Pitre, 85, who passed away on October 3, 2019, in Baton Rouge.  Her nephew, Father John Pardue, will be celebrant of the mass and conduct the funeral services.  Burial will take place in the MB Fontenot Cemetery.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.  The family requested that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., today.  Visitation will resume on Friday, October 11, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.  Mary Dory Pitre was born on March 15, 1934, in Ville Platte, to Joseph and Alida Soileau Pitre.  As one of 12 children she grew up in a house with close family and fiddle music on the front porch.  Dory attended SLI before marrying and moving to New England.  From there, she moved to Santa Barbara, CA where she had her family and worked at San Roque Catholic Church.  She lived there for more than 20 years.  In 1980, she moved back to Louisiana and lived in Lafayette for 10 years before moving to Baton Rouge and eventually Gonzales.  Before retirement Dory worked in administration.  She loved sewing and reading.  Dory loved her family, always providing warm coffee and conversation for family and friends.  She is survived by her daughter, Carol San Soucie Woodward and husband, Robert of Pleasonton, CA; son, Paul William San Soucie and wife, Rochelle of Prairieville; three grandchildren, Miles San Soucie, Rhianna San Soucie and Noelle Woodward; and sister, Annie Lee Nelson of Brandon, MS.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alida Soileau Pitre; brothers, Leo Pitre, Dallas Pitre, and Murray Pitre; and sisters, Agnes, Mary Eta, Mattie, Hazel, Bertha, Mary Lynn, and Joyceline.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Miles Perret Cancer Services organization.

 

Marilyn Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Tuesday, 10 Jul 1990:  Ville Platte - Funeral services for Mrs. Irvin Smith, the former Marilyn Pitre, 53, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church here.  The Rev. John Pardue, nephew, will conduct the services.  Mrs. Smith, a resident of Baton Rouge, died at 11 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.  Survivors include her husband, Irvin J. Smith of Baton Rouge; a son, Michael Paul Smith of Baton Rouge; a brother, Dallas Pitre of Ville Platte; eight sisters, Agnes Pitre Credeur and Mary Etta Pitre, both of Opelousas, Joyceine Madoux and Hazel P. Arnould, both of Lafayette, Dora Dean SanSouCie of Baton Rouge, Anna Lee Nelson of Jackson, Miss., Mattie Pardue of Shreveport and Bertha Lynn Andrews of Willis, Texas.  Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte is in charge of arrangements.
