Obituary:  Tupper Lake Free Press (NY), Wednesday, 13 May 1987:  Joseph Peets, 81, of 41 Pleasant Ave. died suddenly Friday night May 8, at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he was spending a week visiting at the home of his son, Raymond Peets.  Stricken ill there, he was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  Death was attributed to a heart attack.  Mr. Peets had planned to leave the next day, Saturday, to fly to Marshall, Texas to visit at the home of another son, Leonard Peets of that city.  He was born at Forest, N.Y. on August 6, 1905, a son of Bennie Peets and Jennie Veivia Peets.  The family moved to Tupper Lake in his early childhood and he attended Holy Ghost Academy.  On May 26, 1926 he was married at Niagara Falls, N.Y. to Miss Anna Deneault, who predeceased him on March 31, 1979.  Mr. Peets was employed at Sunmount VA Hospital, and at the Oval Wood Dish plant here for many years.  Thereafter he worked as custodian and later as truant officer for the Tupper Lake schools.  He was a member of Tupper Lake Council 2177, Knights of Columbus, which held a memorial service Monday night at the Rennell Funeral Home.  Surviving are three sons: Leonard of Marshall, Texas; Raymond of Poughkeepsie and LeRoy Peets of Newton Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jeannette) Shinnock of Massena; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude LaBarge, Tupper Lake and Mrs. Lavina Pharand of Masson, Quebec; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Msgr. Edmund H. Dumas at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Church, and interment was in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Tupper Lake Emergency Squad.  Funeral arrangements were with the Rennell Funeral Home.

Obituary:  Tupper Lake Free Press (NY), Wednesday, 4 April 1979:  Mrs. Anna Peets, 72, of 41 Pleasant Ave., died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday at the Saranac Lake General Hospital where she had been taken by the Tupper Lake Emergency Squad about 3 a.m.  She had been in failing health for some time suffering from a heart condition.  A Mass of the resurrection was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Church, and interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in May.  She was born Feb. 27, 1907 in Hemmingford, Que., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mederick Deneault, and had resided in Tupper Lake since 1924.  Surviving are her husband, Joseph Peets, to whom she was married in 1927 at Niagara Falls, N.Y.; 3 sons: Leonard Peets of Marshall, Texas; Raymond of Poughkeepsie, and Leroy Peets of Newton Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jeannette) Shinnock of Massena; two brothers: Mederic Deneault of LaColle, Que. and Romain Deneault of St. Constant, Que.; seven sisters: Mrs. Veronica Duquette and Mrs. Alexina Bouchard, both of Hemmingford; Mrs. Bernadette Poirier and Mrs. Agnes LaFave, both of Cornwall, Ont.; Mrs. Janna Gagne and Mrs. Evette St. Pierre, both of LaColle, Que. and Mrs. Lucien Tobin of Ormstown, Que.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leonard B. Peets:  Tupper Lake Free Press (NY), Wednesday, 8 February 1995:  Leonard B. Peete, 66, of Marshall, Texas, formerly of Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, Jan 25, 1995 at the Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, after an ex-
tended illness.  A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Diegel officiating.  Interment was in Colonial Gardens Cemetery at Marshall, TX.  Military honors were accorded at the graveside under the auspices of Barksdale Air Force Base.  He was born in Tupper Lake on August 14, 1928, a son of Joseph and Anna Deneault Peets, and attended Holy Ghost Academy.  He was a veteran of 20 years service with the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of technical sergeant.  Thereafter he was employed by the City of Marshall Water Department until his retirement in 1984.  Other previous employment include the Mitsubishi Aircraft plant in San Angelo, Texas.  Surviving Mr. Peete are his wife, the former Eletha Eugenia Tibbits of Marshall, to whom he was married on Aug. 15, 1955 at Great Falls, Montana; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Amy Peete of Longview; stepsons and step daughters-in-law, Jerry Tibbits of Montana, Tom and Judy Tibbits of St. Augustine, Florida, Dennis and Bebe Tibbits of Marshall; a stepdaughter Sharon Smith of Missouri City, MO; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Carol Peete of Poughkeepsie, NY and LeRoy and Carolyn Peete of Newton Falls, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Shinnock of Massena, NY; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.

Jeannette M. PeetsPhillips Memorial Home (Massena, NY): March 15, 1937 - February 13, 2024:  Massena - A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Jeannette M. Shinnock, privately, per her wishes at the convenience of the family with Rev. Mark Reilly presiding.  Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Massena in the spring.  There will be no public calling hours or services.  Jeannette passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted husband and children under the care of Hospice late Tuesday evening, February 13, 2024.  Jeannette is survived by her husband Richard G. Shinnock, of 67 years, and their caring daughters; Glenda MacPherson, Karla Flynn and Serena and husband Stephen Krywanczyk all of Massena, NY.  Jeannette is also survived by her five grandchildren; Ashley Flynn of Riverton, UT, Eric MacPherson, Lindsay MacPherson and companion Seth Blair, Aaron Krywanczyk, and Allie Krywanczyk all of Massena, NY with three great-grandchildren; Whitney and Brody Flynn-Contreras and Gavin Blair.  She leaves also one brother Leroy and wife Caroline Peets of Newton Falls, NY, a sister in-law Carol Peets of Citrus Spring, FL, along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, her brothers, Leonard Peete, and Raymond Peets, predeceased her along with a granddaughter Kristina Marie “Kristie” Flynn in 2021.  Jeannette was born to the late Joseph and Anna (Deneault) Peets in Tupper Lake, NY on March 15, 1937.  She attended schools in Tupper Lake, graduating from Holy Ghost Academy.  She worked at Tupper Lake National Bank and later at JJ Newberry’s Store where she met and soon married her loving husband Richard G. Shinnock at Saint Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake, NY on September 16, 1956, to the late Rev. Msgr. D. J. Brault.  Jeannette was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Massena and enjoyed spending time celebrating family events and holidays at the family home.  She was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a Massena Raiders fan and could be found traveling with the Massena Hockey traveling teams with her husband as a big supporter in her younger years.  She loved taking rides to the Adirondacks especially in the fall sharing stories of her life there, during her childhood and teenage years along with times spent with her husband when first married.  In lieu of flowers, those who would like to share memorial contributions in her memory may do so with Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Potsdam, New York,
