Obituary:  The Sacramento Bee (Sacramento, CA), Thursday, 8 October 1925:  Peat - Near Lodi, San Joaquin County, October 6, 1925, Joseph N. Peat, husband of Alice Peat, brother of Fred Peat of Newcastle, Frank and Alex. Peat of Canada, Amiel Peat of North Dakota and George Peat of Lodi; a native of Minnesota, aged 56 years.

- Stockton Independent (Stockton, CA), Friday, 9 October 1925:  Lodi, Oct. 8 - Funeral services for Joseph N. Peat, 11 West Walnut street, who died Tuesday at the San Joaquin General hospital at French Camp, were held this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Anne's church, where mass was said for the repose of his soul.  He was born in Minnesota and was aged 56 years, 11 months and 15 days.  He had been a resident of California for the past two years.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Peat, and four brothers, Fred Peat of Newcastle, Frank Peat of North Dakota, Alex Peat of Canada and George Peat of Lodi.  Interment was made in Lockeford cemetery.  Hale and Bawden in charge of arrangements.

- Bottineau Courant (Bottineau, ND), Thursday, 13 May 1920:  Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Peat and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peat on Monday shipped their household goods to Overly and left Wednesday for that place where Jos. has rented a pool room and where the two families expect to make their future home.
