Obituary: Saint John Times Globe (St. John, NB), Monday, 13 November 1978: Mrs. M. Veronica Peters of 43 Topeka Street, widow of John P. Peters died unexpectedly at St. Joseph's Hospital on Friday evening. Mrs. Peters was born at Du Blois, P.E.I., a daughter of the late Stephen and Gertrude (Poirier) Renard. She was a member of the CWL and the Legion of Mary. She is survived by two sons, Alphonse of Sheet Harbour, N.S., and Henry of Montreal; five daughters, Olive, Mrs. Aubin Perry and Minnie, Mrs. Camille Perry, both of St. Louis, P.E.I., Lauretta, Mrs. William Walsh of Brighton, Mass., Auldine, Mrs. Earl Cornish of New York and Gertrude, Mrs. Douglas Mullock of Saint John; 32 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The body is resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, from where the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:40 to Stella Maris Church for funeral mass at 9 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Leo died of head injuries following a fight with Gallant. Death was later ruled accidental.

Mary was born on August 8, 1913 on Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of John and Veronica Peters. She married Earl A. Cornish on May 13, 1935, who survives. She is survived by her husband, Earl A. Cornish of Naples; two sons, Earl L. Cornish of Naples and Robert Cornish of Aspen, Colo.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Peters of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, and Alphonse Peters of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia; a sister, Loretta Walsh of Brighton, Mass.; two sisters-in-law, Rita MacDonald of Summerville, Mass. and Mabel Cornish of Marlboro, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie Irma Pitre: Charlottetown Guardian (PEI), Friday, 20 January 1956: In Memoriam - Mrs. Mary Irma Ross - The death of Mrs. Mary Irma Ross, beloved wife of Sergeant W. E. Ross, occurred at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, on January 10, 1956, after a prolonged period of failing health. Born Irma Peters and formerly of Palmer Road, P.E.I., the late Mrs. Ross leaves to mourn, besides her husband, one daughter Andrea, and two sons Bryan and David. Another son, Dennis, died in infancy ten years ago. Also left to mourn are her mother, Mrs. Veronica Peters, East St. John, N.B., and the following sisters and brothers: Olive (Mrs. Aubin Perry) and Minnie (Mrs. Camille Perry), St. Louis, P.E.I.; Lauretta (Mrs. William Walsh), Brighton, Mass.; Aldine (Mrs. Earl Cornish), West Newton, Mass.; Gertrude (Mrs. Douglas Mulock), Miss Helen Peters, and Henry J. Peters, East St. John; and Alphonse J. Peters, Sheet Harbor, N.S. Her father, Mr. John P. Peters, and two brothers Leo and George, predeceased her by several years. The remains were transferred to East St. John where Requiem High Mass was celebrated at Stella Maris Church by the pastor, Rev. A. W. Kinsella, who also officiated at the grave. Pallbearers were Alphonse J. Peters, Henry J. Peters, Gordon Ross, Aubin Perry, Dominic Gionet, and Joseph Cormier. The profusion of mass cards, spiritual and floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which the late Mrs. Ross was held by all who knew her. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved members of her family.
Joseph Alphonsus Peters: The Chronicle Herald (Halifax, NS), 10 December 2009: Alphonse Joseph Peters - 93, Sheet Harbour, died December 8, 2009, in Duncan MacMillan Nursing Home, Sheet Harbour. Born October 24, 1916, in Palmer Road, P.E.I., he was a son of the late John Patrick and Veronica (Bernard) Peters. In 1939 he moved to Nova Scotia. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving throughout Europe with the Nova Scotia West Novies Regiment. He was wounded in Italy and served for several months with the occupation army in Germany. After the war he worked in the woods, on the fire tower and the Sheet Harbour pulp mill. He also worked as a guide for hunters and fishermen. His Prince Edward Island roots ran deep and he grew wonderful vegetables and flowers and he provided great keyboard and fiddle music for many dances, variety shows and social gatherings. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Parish, Sheet Harbour and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Courcelette Branch No. 58, Sheet Harbour. He is survived by his second wife, Doris; daughters, Irma (Bob) Snyder, Sheet Harbour; Nancy (Steve) Balcom, Dartmouth; Beth Moser (Brian Duggan), Dartmouth; Bonnie (Bob) Behie, Lower Sackville; Theresa Anderson (Paul Parks), Halifax; sons, Jerry (Doris), Dartmouth; Laurie (Kathy), Whittenburg; Bill, Marinette; Stephen (Sharon), Spry Bay; George (Connie), Dartmouth; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. She was employed at the firm of T. McAvity and Sons, Ltd. Besides her mother she is survived by two brothers, Alphonse Peters, Sheet Harbor, N.S., and Henry Peters, Royal Canadian Navy, Halifax; five sisters, Mrs. Aubin Perry, Palmer Road, P.E.I., Mrs. Camille Perry, St. Louis, P.E.I., Mrs. William Walsh, Brighton, Mass., Mrs. Earl Cornish, West Newton, Mass., Mrs. Douglas Mulock, East Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Joseph Henry Peters: The Chronicle Herald (Halifax, NS), 24 February 2009: Joseph "Joe" Peters, of Saint John, N.B., passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009, in Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Palmer Road, Prince Edward Island on January 29, 1923, he was a son of the late John Patrick and Veronica (Bernard) Peters, both of Prince Edward Island. Joe was a veteran of the Second World War. He served as a naval officer from 1940 to 1970 on many Royal Canadian Navy ships, including the H.M.C.S. Crescent, Kootenay, Haida and Lanark as Chief Petty Officer and also was Range Officer at Stadacona, Halifax. Joe was a long-time member of the Cathedral Parish. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Lauza (Gionet) Peters; his brothers, George and Leo; his sisters, Olive, Minnie, Lorette, Aldine, Elma, Alma, Gertrude and Helen. He is survived by his brother, Alphonse of Sheet Harbour; his children: Jill, Sandi, Donald, John and Jean; grandchildren; Tyler and Jesse Langdon, Mitchell, Mikhel, Marya and Martin Peters, as well as several nieces and nephews. Resting in Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, Saint John, with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday from Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 12 noon. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
