Georges Pitre: Elhatton’s Funeral Home (Bathurst, NB), George Pitre 1935-2020 (photo) - Sainte Anne, Glou. Co., NB - Mr. George Pitre, of Sainte Anne, Bathurst NB, passed away peacefully at home on May 4th, 2020 at the age of 85. Born in Sainte Anne, he was the late son of John and Mary (Aubé) Pitre. George is survived by his wife Vivian (Kerry) Pitre, her two daughters Jennifer (Kevin) Maclean and Trisia (Iohann) Doiron. His children Roger and Danny (Colette). His grandchildren, Nicolas (Demy), Renée (Cedric) Arseneau, Dylan and Emily. Also, one great-grandchild Benjamin. His step-grandchildren Maxime, Alexandre, Rosalie, Jaxx and Elizabeth. He is survived by his brother Leo (Paula) Pitre, also by his six sisters Anita Poirier, Anna Bertin, Lorraine (Alain) Gravel, Yvonne (George) Saulnier, Brigitte (Raymond) Gosselin, Simonne (Roger) Daigle. He was predeceased by his first wife Theresa (Lavigne) Pitre, his son Vincent and daughter Marie, his brothers Richard, Alphee and sister Jeanette. He was born and raised and went to school in Sainte Anne. From horse and buggy selling butter in town with his mom to modern day Bathurst. As a young man he worked at the Sanatorium and Model farm, cutting pulp wood and gardening and he also worked in tobacco fields in Ontario. He worked in Eliot Lake, Ontario at the Stanrock Uranium Mine. George was married to Theresa Lavigne in 1953, they had 2 children Roger and Danny. He moved back to NB in 1965 and worked at the Bathurst Mine, as a foreman until he retired in 1990. Theresa passed away on April 20th, 1999. He married his second wife Vivian on September 9th, 2000. They still lived at the family farm in Sainte Anne where they shared their love of raising cattle, horses, sheep and many other animals. George was happiest while working the farm. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, love of farming and animals, his sleigh rides with his team of Belgian horses, his sense of humor and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his family, friends, pets and all who knew him. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date. Donations in memory of George may be made to a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst.

He was the son of the late John Pitre and late Marie Aube. He is survived by two daughters, Suzanne, Montreal and Linda, St. Anne; two sons, Junior, Miramichi and Adrien, St. Anne; three brothers, Georges (Vivian), St. Anne, Richard (Patricia), Taber, Alta and Leo (Paula), Cornwall; five sisters, Anita (late Cyprien) Poirier, Atikokan, Ont, Brigitte (Raymond) Gosselin, Atikokan, Ont, Loraine (Alain) Gravel, Sherbrooke, Que, Simonne (Roger) Daigle, Ottawa, Anna (Don) Bertin, Beresford and Yvonne (Georges) Saulnier, Beresford; a brother-in-law, Emile (late Jeannette) Comeau, Wickham, NB. He was predeceased by a son, Dorian. Funeral mass was held at St. Nom de Jesus, Church in Beresford on Saturday July 12, 2008. Funeral Arrangements were in care of Verret Funeral Home, Bathurst.
Richard Joseph Pitre: Southland Funeral Chapel (Taber, Alberta): 1936 - 2017: Richard Joseph Pitre, beloved husband of Patricia Pitre, passed away peacefully in Taber on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Taber on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Richard is survived by his wife of fifty eight years Patricia; six sons Michel Pitre of Taber, Charles (Stephanie) Pitre of Coaldale, Armand (Shannon) Pitre of Lethbridge, Philip Pitre of Lethbridge, Lenard Pitre of Lethbridge and Morice (Geraldine) Pitre of Taber; daughter Nicole (Tim) Richard of Red Deer; seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers George (Vivian) Pitre of Bathurst of New Brunswick and Leo (Paula) Pitre of Cornwall, Ontario; six sisters Anna Bertin of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Yvonne (George) Saulnier of Bathurst, New Brunswick, Anita Poirier of Atikokan, Ontario, Brigitte (Raymond) Gosselin Atikokan, Ontario, Simonne (Roger) Daigle of Ottawa, Ontario and Lorraine (Alain) Gravel of Sherbrooke, Quebec; brother-in-law Emile Comeau of Saint John, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by his brother Alphie Pitre, sister Jeanette Comeau, and brothers-in-law Don Bertin and Cyprien Poirier, as well as sister-in-law Theresa Pitre. Richard was born on July 28, 1936 in Bathurst, New Brunswick to John G. Pitre and Marie Cathrine Aube. He was a beloved Grandfather, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He was a local celebrity known as "The Bike Man", "Mr. Pitre" and "The Real Santa." Richard lived larger than life and was an accomplished jack of all trades and a quirky inventor of crazy bicycles that he proudly showed in parades and shows all over the United States and Canada, as the Taber Wild Riders. He was a coach for the MD of Taber cycling team for the Southern Alberta Summer Games for eighteen years, boasting many consecutive first place finishes with the team. Richard won many awards in his lifetime, including The Gordon Hacking Memorial for Outstanding Contributions Taber Minor Hockey, Alberta Citizen of the Year and also Canadian Citizen Of The Year. He had his fifteen minutes of fame on TV, radio, magazines and newspapers all over the United States and Canada. One of his Santa videos even made it to America's Funniest Home Videos. For most of his life he was deeply involved in Minor Hockey, bicycle racing and repair, and he thoroughly enjoyed life and helping others. Richard will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
