- 23 December 1899, Opelousas Courier A remarkable marriage took place at Tates Cove, in this parish, last Tuesday, the 19th, between Mr. Manuel Larose Fontenot, aged 82 years, and Mrs. Elletitice Pitre, aged 69 years. The groom is the father of eleven children the youngest being 33 years old. A large number of the neighbours witnessed the strange ceremony, among whom was our efficient Deputy Sheriff A.L. Fontenot who furnished us with the above facts.
