- The Montreal Star (Montreal, QUE), Monday, 1 May 1950:  Saturday night was to have been a big night for the Pitt and Addison families of Montreal.  But instead of the gay French-Canadian "reveillon" that had been planned for many months, there was a grim scene at the morgue at Cedars, Que.  Two of the Addisons and the friend of one of the daughters were killed when a light-panel truck in which they were passengers overturned three times after sideswiping a two-ton truck on the Toronto highway near St. Zotique, about 47 miles from Montreal.  "It was one of those accidents that can hardly be explained," said Det. Albert Oggier, of the Provincial Police homicide squad.  Sixty-year-old Joseph Pitt, 6870 St. Lawrence boulevard, driver of the truck, was vague concerning details.  In a broken voice, he told how the truck, owned by T. V. Bell, Montreal printers, sideswiped the larger vehicle, the property of Smith Transport Co.  (More details in the lengthy article...info given by 11-year-old Andre Boucher, Joseph Pitt's grandson....Mrs. Pitt, 57, sat with a blood-stained bandage around her forehead...they were to spend the weekend with their son Wilfred at Martintown, ONT.)
