Floyd Pitre Sr., 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Quirk and Son Funeral Home here, with burial in St. Paul Cemetery.  Pitre died Sunday, May 28, 2006.  Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Eunice is in charge of the arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Sunday, 6 April 2008:  Eunice - Funeral services for Margaritte Comeaux Pitre, 87, will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice with entombment to follow at St. Paul Mausoleum.  The Rev. Edward Duhon, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, will officiate.  Mrs. Pitre passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008.  Visitation will begin Monday, April 7, 2008, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. and again Tuesday, April 8, from 8 a.m. until service time.  A rosary will be prayed Monday, at 6 p.m.  She is survived by her son, Floyd Pitre, Jr. and his wife, Jan, of Lafayette; two daughters, Shirley A. Pitre, of Carencro, and Loretta P. Fruge and her husband, Harry, of Eunice; a brother, Francis Ray Pitre, of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Pitre, Sr.; her parents, Theodule and Laurance Duhon Pitre; four sisters, Isobell C. Bouillion, Mary Jane Thompson, infant sisters, Gladys and Grace Comeaux.  Quirk and Son Funeral Home of Eunice is in charge of the arrangements.

Pitre:  The Daily Advertiser (Lafayette, LA), Thursday, 25 May 2017:  (photo)  Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Floyd J. Pitre, Jr., age 76, who passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 1:15 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center.  Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.  The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.  Mr. Pitre was a native of Eunice and a resident of Lafayette since 1965.  He was a pillar of faith in the community and was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and previously St. Leo Catholic Church, where he was a prior member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was an active participant in his neighborhood rosary group, and frequented mass at the Carmelite Monastery, where he was a volunteer.  He participated and assisted in the Cursillo ministry in Prairie Ronde.  A veteran of the military, Mr. Pitre served in the U.S. Marines.  He was an avid gardener and loved the outdoor life.  Floyd was a devoted husband, loving father and adored his grandchildren.  He also loved camping, fishing with his father, going to the camp, and fixing things.  Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Janella Fontenot Pitre of Lafayette; four children, Paul J. Pitre and his wife, Maryanne, of Tampa, FL, Mark R. Pitre and his wife, Angie, of Sunset, Denise Pitre Collins and her husband, Michael, of Las Vegas, NV and Michael L. Pitre and his wife, Tam Pham, of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Shirley A. Pitre and Loretta Pitre Fruge and her husband, Harry, both of Eunice; and six grandchildren, Monique Pitre, Ali Pitre, Jacob Pitre, Brooke Pitre, Avery Collins and Alexander Pitre.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Floyd Pitre, Sr. and the former Marguerite Comeaux.  A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.  The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.  Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, Carencro, is in charge of arrangements.
