Obituary: The Guardian (Charlottetown, PEI), Tuesday, 24 May 1966: (photo) Joseph Pitre, 68, a longtime resident of Charlottetown, died suddenly Saturday in the Charlottetown Hospital. Mr. Pitre was born in Egmont Bay, the son of Florentine Pitre and Julia Peters. He was employed for 45 years with the printing department of The Guardian - Patriot Publishing Company. Besides his wife, the former Alice Doucette of New Zealand, P.E.I., also surviving are a family of eight. Surviving are five sons: Stephen, Saint John, New Brunswick; and Francis, Gerald, James and Peter at home. Daughters include: Mary (Martin), Montreal; Justina at home; and Elaine (Kelly), Wiltshire.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria (nee Shannon); four children, John (Margaret), Mississauga, Ont., Suzette (Raymond) Lacenaire, Moncton, Andrew, Hampton, PEI and William (Jennifer), Stratford, PEI and grandchildren Robert Pitre, Marc and Daniel Lacenaire.
