MISC: The Oakdale Sentinel (Oakdale, NE), Friday, 2 October 1908: James Peets and Grace Webb were married Sunday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Webb, Rev. R. F. Shacklock officiating. The Sentinel joins with their many frinds in extending congratulations and hopes that neither will give the other cause to regret the choice made.

James L. Peets: Times Standard (Eureka, CA), Sunday, 30 May 1976: Peets, James L., May 28, 1976, a resident of Eureka. Husband of Lonita Peets of Eureka; step-father of Mrs. Edmond (Joan) Vrendenburg of Salt Lake City, Utah; son of Clara Peets of Eureka; brother of Mrs. Robert (LaVina) Schultz of Eureka and Mrs. Samuel (Rose) Jansen of Arcata. He is survived by two nieces, one nephew and two step-grandchildren. A native of Oakdale, Nebraska. He was a longtime resident of this community, attended Arcata schools and Humboldt State University. He was associated with Bank of America for 25 years. Serving in various capacities, including several years as loan officer. In 1960 he and his wife established Peets Music Company in Eureka which they owned and operated for several years, and later the Kandle Shoppe in downtown Eureka, up to the time of his death. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, past president of the Humboldt County branch American Institute of Banking, past president of the Henderson Center Lions Club and a member of BPOE No. 652 Eureka. He was a former member of the Exchange Club of Eureka and the VFW. A veteran of WWII, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. Rosary will be recited at Pierce Mortuary Monday evening, May 31, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held from Pierce Mortuary Tuesday June 1, 1976 at 9:15 a.m. St. Bernard's Catholic Church for a requiem mass at 9:30 a.m., the Rev. Fr. George Aziz, S.J. Celebrant with Fr. Vincent Radvina and MSGR. John Farrell assisting. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Robert Hedlund, Leon Harris, Gordon Schuler, David Devoy, Kim Brambant, Samuel Janson and Phillip Sullivan. Friends may call at Pierce Mortuary , Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m.
