Obituary:  The Knickerbocker News (Albany, NY), Monday, 1 November 1965:  Funeral services for Joseph Petrie, 73, of 1245 Tenth Avenue, Watervliet, will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Brothers Memorial, 2013 Broadway, and at 9:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet.  Mr. Petrie died Saturday at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.  A native of Canada, he was the husband of the late Ida Shutt.  He was employed by the Great Lake Dredge and Dock Co. for 20 years, until his retirement two years ago.  He was a member of Cohoes Lodge of Moose and the International Union of Operating Engineers.  Mr. Petrie is survived by two stepsons, Ralph and Charles Hartman, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Violet Thierbecker, all of Watervliet, and a brother, James Petrie of Averill Park.

Obituary:  The Times Record (Troy, NY), Thursday, 12 June 1941:  Mrs. Joseph Petrie died yesterday at the Albany Hospital following a brief illness.  Before her marriage she was Miss Ida Shutt.  The survivors include her husband; two sons, Ralph and Charles Hartman; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Theirbacker; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Bebee, and a brother, Charles F. Shutt.  The funeral will be held from the residence, 1348 Broadway, Watervliet, Saturday at 2 p.m.  Rev. William J. Clark, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Albany Rural Cemetery.
