Obituary: The Daily Review (Morgan City, LA), Wednesday, 13 September 2000: Ira Joseph Pete, 81, a native of Berwick and resident of Chauvin, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at 12:20 a.m. He was self-employed at Pete Boat Rentals and Shrimper. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 14, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and resume at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson. He is survived by three sons, Leland J. Pete and Eugene J. Pete, both of Chauvin, and Tim Myron Pete of Eden, Minn.; one brother, Guy Pete of Berwick; five sisters, Iris Meranta and Beulah Borel, both of Bayou Vista, Jeanette Pete of Lafayette, Mabel Rulf and Ollie Landry, both of Berwick; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several very close family friends, Ricky and Lisa Murphy and family, Leonard and Judy Belanger and family, J. C. and Linda Cortez, and Champ and Sue DeHart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ouida Collins Pete; his parents, Elie and Beulah Keiff Pete; a brother, Horace Pete; and three sisters, Irene Pete, Pearl DeHart and Mae DeHart. Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Ira Joseph Pete of Chauvin; three sons, Leland Pete and Tim Pete of Chauvin and Eugene Pete of Houma; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Ruth) Authement and Mrs. Johnny (Rita) Babin, both of Chauvin; five brothers, I. Collins, Bruce Collins, Peter Collins, Roy Collins and Willard Collins, all of Chauvin, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vallie Authement and Connely Collins, and one brother, Lonney Collins. Visitation was to begin at 2 p.m. today in the Chauvin Knights of Columbus Hall and continue until funeral time Saturday. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Chauvin with burial will follow in the church cemetery. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
