Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Monday, 20 May 1996:  Funeral services for Mr. Herbert Pitre, 78, were held at 1 p.m. today in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park.  The Rev. Michael J. Russo conducted the services.  Mr. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas, died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 1996, in Doctors' Hospital in Opelousas.  He was a retired Machine Operator with Lou Ana Food.  Survivors include: three sons, Ronald Pitre, Wilbert Pitre and Joseph Pitre, all of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Mrs. Juanita LaFleur of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Jeanette Robert, Mrs. Ethel Box and Mrs. Sandra Huguet, all of Opelousas; a brother, Wilfred Pitre of Opelousas; 25 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mable Fruge Pitre.  Visiting hours were observed from 3-10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. Monday until time of services.  A rosary was recited at 7 p.m.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Hwy. in Opelousas was in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), Thursday, 6 October 1994:  Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert Pitre, the former Mable Fruge, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Pitre, a resident of Opelousas, died at 1:15 a.m. today (Thursday, October 6) in Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.  Survivors include: three sons, Ronald, Wilbert and Joseph Pitre, all of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Juanita Lafleur of Baton Rouge, Jeannette Robert, Ethel Box and Sandra Huguet, all of Opelousas; a brother, Pierre Fruge of Arkansas; a sister, Lelma Guillory of Ville Platte; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.  Visiting hours are from 2-10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Friday until time of services.  A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.  Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.

Wilbert Charles Pitre:  Advocate (Baton Rouge, LA), Thursday, 28 December 2000:  Wilbert Charles 'Pete' Pitre Sr.  A resident of Watson and a native of Opelousas, he died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 56.  He was a retired local business owner of Pitre's Cajun Seafood Market and former part owner of Scallans Choice Meats in Baton Rouge.  Visitation was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, from noon until the service inside of Greenoaks Memorial Chapel at 4 p.m.  Interment was in Greenoaks Memorial Park.  He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Ann Neal Pitre; a son and daughter-in-law, Wilbert 'Chucky' Charles Jr. and Pamela Pitre of Watson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Simone and Jimmy Bignar of Prairieville, Sabrina and Brhett Graves of Greensburg and Victoria and Don Dartez of Baton Rouge; he also had 12 wonderful and loving grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald and Joseph 'J.C.' Pitre, both of French Settlement; four sisters, Juanita Lafleur of Holden, and Jeanette Robert, Ethel Box and Sandra Huguet, all of Opelousas.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Hebert and Mable Pitre; and a granddaughter, Selena Pitre.

 

Joseph C. Pitre:  Times Picayune, (New Orleans, LA), Monday, 25 October 2010:  Joseph C. Pitre (aka Jay or JC) - Joseph C. Pitre, born August 8, 1947, entered eternal life on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the age of 63 after a brief but courageous battle of cancer.  Son of the late Mable Fruge Pitre and Herbert Pitre.  Survived by wife Teresa Pitre.  Loving father to Lisa Rupp (Murt), Lori Pitre, Brian (Raiza) and Margarete Pitre.  Grandfather (Papa Pete) to Cody, Victoria, Isabella, Gabriel, Courtney, Brandy (Josh) and the late Joseph.  Great-Grandfather (Papa Pete) to Lucas, Jackson, Ella and Julia.  Also survived by his siblings Ronald (Drella), Ethal (Dan) Box, Jeanette (Wilbert) Robert, Sandra (Terry) Huguet, Juanita (John) LaFleur and the late Wilbert (Stephanie) Pitre.  He has numerous nieces and nephews.  He served in the Navy from July 1969 until June 1972.  He was retired from Asbestos Local 53.  He was a loyal LSU football and Talladega Fan.  He loved life with so much passion.  Our Family would like to send a "Special Thanks" to Hospice Associates and their staff and Dr. Merrick and the staff of Tulane Cancer Center.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 9AM until 1PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1PM.  Interment will be private. Ethel Marie Pitre:  Opelousas - Funeral services for Ethel Marie Pitre Box will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La.  Deacon Sammy Diesi will conduct the funeral service.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La.  It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ethel Marie Pitre Box, age 70, of Opelousas, La.  She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Opelousas General Health System.  Ethel retired from Opelousas General Health System after working over 25 years as a billing supervisor.  She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.  She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, taking care of her magnolias and Easter lilies, cooking, was a wonderful caretaker, doing crossword puzzles and shopping.  Family was her greatest joy.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Ethel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dan Box, of Opelousas, La.; her daughters, Monica Rasmussen and husband, Kris Rasmussen, of Denver, Colorado; Pamela Potier (Craig Dugas) of Parks, La.; her brothers, Ronald Pitre and wife, Dee; her sisters, Juanita Pitre, Jeanette Robert and husband, Wilbert and Sandra Huguet and husband, Terry.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ethan Cormier, Aaron Cormier, Alexandria Potier, Samantha Potier, Adam Rasmussen and Ian Rasmussen.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Isabella Disotell, Corbin Meche, Analeigh Meche, Asher Cormier, Michael-Allen Louviere and one on the way, Wrenley Potier.  She was preceded in death by parents, Herbert Pitre and Mable Fruge Pitre; her daughter, Annette Box; her brothers, Wilbert Pitre and J.C. Pitre and her godchild, Stacey Roberts.  Pallbearers will be Wyatt Louviere, Terry Huguet, Wilbert Robert, Byron Robert, Jordy Huguet and Johnny Lafleur.  LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, Opelousas, LA has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
