Obituary:  The Daily Review (Morgan City, LA), Tuesday, 5 March 1996:  Horace Pete Sr., 77, a native of Morgan City and a resident of Berwick, died Monday at Iberia General Hospital in New Iberia.  Visitation will be today, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City, with a rosary being said at 7:30 p.m.  Visitation Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. will be at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick.  Funeral services Wednesday will be at 10 a.m. at the church, with burial following at the Berwick Cemetery.  He is survived by his wife, Leona Pete of Berwick; two sons, Ray Pitre of Panama City, Fla., and Horace Pete Jr. of Have Lock, N.C.; two brothers, Guy Pete of Berwick and Ira Pete of Chauvin; five sisters, Ollie Landry of Berwick, Jeanette Begnaud of Lafayette, Mabel Rulf of Berwick, and Beulah Borel and Iris Meranto, both of Bayou Vista; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Third and Fourth Degree, and a member of the Ushers Society of St. Stephen Catholic Church.  Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  The Daily Review (Morgan City, LA), Monday, 14 March 2005:  Leona Mae Watkins Pete, May 26, 1917 - March 13, 2005 - Leona Mae (Watkins) Pete, 87, a native and resident of Berwick, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at her residence in Berwick.  She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and the St. Mary Parish AARP.  Leona will always be remembered as a simple lady that loved life and the pleasures of life.  She was a graduate of Pan American University with a degree in Educstion.  She taught in the Brownsville, Texas, and Berwick school systems for many years.  After retiring from the Berwick school system, her love for children continued when she opened her own pre-school on Fifth Street in Berwick, where she taught faithfully until reaching the age of 81.  She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that was touched by this dear lady.  She was the daughter of the late Clamere Watkins and the late Euranie (Robicheaux) Watkins.  She is also survived by her two sons, Ray J. Pete Sr. and his wife, Aurelia, of Panama City, Fla., and Horace A. Pete Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Bayou Vista; five grandchildren, Kathy Kearney, Laurie Kalt, Ray J. Pete Jr., Shannon Day Chief and Shawn T. Pete; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of more than 56 years, Horace A. Pete Sr.; and one brother, Andrew Watkins.  The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today with a rosary to be said at 7 p.m. at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City.  Visitation will resume from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be at Twin City Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, with Father Josh Rodrigue officiating.  Interment will be in the Berwick Cemetery.

Ray Joseph Pitre:  Ray Joseph Pitre, Sr., 82, of Panama City, Florida passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  Mr. Pitre was born the son of Horace Anthony Pete, Sr. and Leona Mae Watkins-Pete on December 15, 1938 in Bayou Sale, Louisiana.  He served in the Louisiana National Guard for several years.  Mr. Pitre worked for the City of Panama City for over twenty five years.  He was Catholic by faith.  Memorialization will be by cremation.
