Obituary:  The Daily Review (Morgan City, LA), Monday, 20 January 2003:  Guy A. Pete Rites Held - Guy Anthony Pete, an 80-year-old native of and current resident of Berwick, after having spent 45 years in Brownsville, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City after a short illness.  He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Landry Pete; seven children, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.) Guy Anthony Pete Jr., Lynn Rose Allen, Elaine Ruby Windhaus, Doris Mary Brown, Lucy Ann Pete, Audie John Pete and Clint James Pete; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  He is the brother of Ollie Landry, Mable Rulf, Beulah Borel, Jeanette Pete and Iris Meranta.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Pete; sisters, Irene Pete, Mae DeHart and Pearl DeHart; and brothers, Horace Pete and Ira Pete.  Pallbearers are Guy Pete Jr., Audie Pete, Clint Pete, Eugene Pete, E. J. Landry, Ferrel DeHart, Phillip Windhaus and James Rink.  Honorary pallbearers are John Allen and Wayne Brown.  A United States Army veteran of World War II, having served from Dec. 18, 1942 through Jan. 27, 1946, he served with Battery C 421st Rocket Field Artillery Battalion in the Battle of Okinawa, Ryuryus Campaign.  He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.  Guy Pete was a lifelong commercial shrimper, boat and fleet owner, industry pioneer in the Gulf of Mexico, lobbyist for the Texas shrimping industry and a civic activist.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Rotary Club of America, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.  He is a past president of the Texas Shrimp Association.  He was a director of the Brownsville Elks Lodge, Boys Club, United Fund, Knights of Columbus, Amigo Savings and Loan Association and the Brownsville/Port Isabel Propeller Club.  Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 and from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City with a Rosary prayed at 7 p.m. each night.  Mass was said at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, with military honors provided by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.  Interment followed at the Berwick Cemetery.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local Rotary Club chapter.  Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City was in charge of arrangements.

Obituary:  The Daily Review (Morgan City, LA), Monday, 29 September 2003:  Ruby Rita Landry Pete, 79, a native of Bayou L'Ourse, a current resident of Berwick and a former 45-year resident of Brownsville, Texas, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at home after a short illness.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Guy A. Pete Sr.  She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick.  She is survived by their seven children, retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Guy Anthony Pete Jr.; Lynn Rose Allen, Elaine Ruby Windhaus, Doris Mary Brown, Lucy Ann Pete, Audie John Pete and Clint James Pete, 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  She is the sister of Betty Rink and Esther Marino.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleopha Landry; brothers, Percy Landry and Elmore Landry; and sisters, Zoe Landry, Gladys Giroir and Elma Pennison.  Pallbearers will be Guy Pete Jr., Audie Pete, Clint Pete, James Rink, Phillip Windhaus and Ferrel Dehart.  Honorary pallbearers are John Allen, Wayne Brown and Louis Pennison.  Ruby Pete was a wife and homemaker for her late husband, who was a commercial shrimper, boat and fleet owner.  Ruby's proudest accomplishment was her marriage and family of seven children.  Visitation was held 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Monday continues today until 9:30 p.m. at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City.  A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. tonight.  Mass will be said at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, with interment to follow at the Berwick Cemetery.  At Ruby Pete's request, in lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Hospice of Louisiana, Morgan City, LA; the American Diabetic Society; or the American Cancer Society.  Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.
