May the 11, 1894 - My Dear Children, I have received your letter and was glad to hear that you are all well as it found us all the same. I am glad that you have got work. The boys down here have got through their job and am afraid it will be a long time before they get another. We are getting along well with the planting. Fred and Ida were down here not long and we bought a pig from Fred but if we could get two more we would be glad for we have plenty of milk from Corgy (?). I am very glad to hear that Mr. Clemens has got an increase in his pension. It will be a good help to them. It must be nice to have Hazell playing outside but be carefull she don't runaway. A little boy down here got out of the yard and has been lost for three weeks. They have not found him yet he his two years old. Clara has had a pelon (?) on her thumb it is getting better now. I am that Anettie is maried. Tell her that I wish her much joy. It is to bad about Mattie. She don't get no better. Well I will have to close my letter my paper is to small. So good by. Detroit, Nov 9th 1895 - My Dear Children, I now write to let you know that I have received your kind letter and was glad to hear that you are all well as it found us all the same. Well Ed I think you have done well in husking so much corn but you will have to stop now for the snow is on the ground. The boys are all working except Dave and Selester. Dave was up to Fred a week husking corn. I, Fred and Ida is coming for Thanksgiving I wish you all could come allso if the weather well. Carie I think you would enjoy a good ride on thos elictric cars and Hazell would to. I sure so try and come I would like to see you all. Tell Hazell Granma Pete would like to see her Lillie had so much to say about her. Well I will have to close my letter. Clara is working out she is very sory she can't go this fall. April the 21, 1897 - Dear Children, I now write you a few lines to let you know that we are all well and hope this will find you all the same. We are once more in our old home and hope we will be able to stay. If the boys gets work we will do well. There is only Frank and Louis who has a few days work. Just now the rest has none. David talks of going out in the country to work if he can get a place. Selester wants to know if you have lot of painting to do and you need any help. Give him a job if you can do so without any trouble to you or Carie. Fred and Ada were down here Sunday and told us you had a rig now so I shall expect to see you all soon.
