Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Monday, 13 March 1950:  Edward J. Peters, Orono Grocer over 50 Years, is Dead - Orono, March 12 - Edward John Peters, 80, husband of Philomena Peters, died at his residence, 111 Mill street, Saturday afternoon following a lingering illness.  He was born in Bathurst, N.B., January 24, 1870, son of the late John and Anastasia Peters, and moved to this country while a small boy.  He conducted a grocery store in Orono for over 50 years.  He was the only living charter member of Joseph Orono council 152, Knights of Columbus.  Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Edward L. Peters, Orono; three brothers, John of Brewer, Joseph of Hancock and Bernard of Portland; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Trainor of Waterville, Mrs. Martha Haggerty of New York City and Miss Gertrude Peters of Hancock; and several nieces and nephews.  Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic church, Orono, Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Maurice Boland officiating.  Interment will be in Riverside cemetery, Orono.  Friends may call at the residence.

Obituary:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Tuesday, 19 August 1969:  Mrs. Edward J. Peters - Orono - Mrs. Philomena Blanchard Peters, 96, widow of Edward J. Peters, died in a Bangor hospital Sunday evening after a long illness.  She was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Nov. 21, 1872, daughter of Anthony and Rose (Vieman) Blanchard.  She had been a resident of Orono for the past 70 years.  She and her husband operated a grocery store on Mill Street in Orono for 50 years.  Mrs. Peters was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and is survived by one son, Edward L. Peters of Orono.  Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. John Crozier officiating.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono.  Friends may call at the Joseph R. LaBeau Funeral Home, 72 Main Street, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Edward L. Peters:  The Bangor Daily News (Bangor, ME), Monday, 19 October 1981:  Edward L. Peters - Orono - Edward L. Peters, 84, husband of Eva (Farnsworth) Peters, died unexpectedly at his home, 97 Forest Ave., Oct. 17, 1981.  He was born in Boston, Mass., Jan. 19, 1897.  He was a star athlete at Orono and Bangor High Schools.  For 50 years he was in business in Orono as owner of University Motors.  For 50 years he was a member of the Orono Fire Department and for 20 years served as the fire chief.  He was a charter member of the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis Club, and was a member of St. Mary's Church.  Besides his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.  A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Orono, 10 a.m. Wednesday.  The Rev. Rudolph Levelle will officiate.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Orono.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, Orono, care of Mrs. June Anderson, Water St., Orono Maine.  Arrangements by The Joseph R. LaBeau Funeral Home, 72 Main St., Orono.
