Obituary:  Beaumont Journal (TX), Friday, 26 October 1951:  Jennings, La., Oct. 26 - Alius Joseph Pitre, 47, oil salesman of Elton, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at his home after an illness of several days.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Elton.  Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist church in Elton by the Rev. E.N. Weaver, with burial at Liberty cemetery directed by Segura funeral home.  Surviving are his wife: son, Carl, of Elton; two daughters, Mrs. E. D. Philpott of Owensville, Ark. and Annette Pitre of Elton; his mother, Mrs. Doris Pitre of Elton; brothers, Elza of Kinder, M. J. of Roanoke and Adras Pitre of Jennings; sisters, Mrs. Frank Miller of Sulphur and Mrs. Jim Manuel of Kinder and one grandchild.

 

Obituaries for the children:

Carl Aden Pitre:  Funeral services for Mr. Carl Aden Pitre, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the First Baptist Church of Elton with Bros. Dore Langley, Pat Thomas and Jake Crowell officiating.  Burial will be in the China Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.  Visitation will be in the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  Mr. Pitre died at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.  Mr. Pitre was a lifelong resident of Elton and was owner of a dry cleaning business.  He was a Godly man, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  He leaves behind a legacy with the Sign Shop, Real Tailors and Cleaners and with his school bus route.  He had a God given talent, a good business man and a love for children.  He is survived by his wife, Deloris Pitre of Elton; two daughters, Lori Hanks and husband Philip of Buna, Texas, Shawn Nichols and husband Scott of Pineville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Alias and Lucinda Bertrand Pitre; and two sisters, Madelyn Philpot Greene and Annette Pitre.

Annette L. Pitre:  Daily World (Opelousas, LA), 29 August 2001:  Elton - Funeral services for Annette Pitre, 65, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in First Baptist Church.  Brother Jake Crowell will officiate.  Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin Funeral Home.  Visitation is 5-10 p.m. today in the funeral home and from 8 a.m. Thursday in the church.  Ms. Pitre died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, in her residence.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elton.  Survivors include one brother, Carl Pitre of Elton; and one sister, Mrs. Madelyn Philpot Green of Houston.
