Obituary: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 14 November 1954: E. P. CAYEN, 54, DEAD - Edward P. Cayen, 54, of 923 Congress St., died suddenly Friday night (Nov. 12. 1954) after being stricken with a heart attack at 5:45. Mr. Cayen had been an employee of the Standard Shade Roller Corp. for the past 10 and a half years. He was a member of St. John's Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose 814. He was a former member of the New York National Guard of Ogdensburg, enlisting in 1918 and being honorably discharged in 1923 with the rank of Corporal. Born in this city Oct. 29, 1900, he was the son of the late Joseph Cayen and Philomene Robillard. On Oct 29, 1921 he was married to Miss Dorothy Walling in St. John’s church by the Rev. D. Charles White. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Elizabeth) Como and Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Martin, several aunts and uncles; and one niece, Mrs. Joseph Woods of Syracuse. His brother, John, died three years ago. Funeral services will be at St. John’s Church Monday at 10 a.m., Canon Palmer officiating. The body is reposing at Ramsdell-Ewart’s. Burial will be made in the Ogdensburg Cemetery.

Obituary: Ogdensburg Advance (NY), Sunday, 22 May 1977: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary (Dorothy) Cayen, 76, will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home Monday at 10 a.m. and at St. John's Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. George N. Sayles officiating. Burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the Nichols Funeral Home begin Saturday evening and are continuous until the funeral at the convenience of friends. Mrs. Cayen died at 10:15 a.m. Friday (May 20, 1977) at the United Helpers Home, where she had lived for the past two years. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Joseph G. (Fanny) Martin of Ogdensburg; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by another daughter, Mrs. Earl C. (Elizabeth) Como, in 1969. Mrs. Cayen was born in Ogdensburg Sept. 19, 1900, the daughter of William C. and Catherine LaFlair Walling. On Oct. 29, 1921, she was married to Edward P. Cayen in St. John's Episcopal Church in a ceremony performed by the Rev. Charles White. Mrs. Cayen was employed by Acco International for nine years. She retired 12 years ago. She was a member of St. John's Church and sang in the church choir for 30 years. She also belonged to St. Martha's Guild, the St. Agnes Society and the Altar Society of the church. Mrs. Cayen was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Eureka Rebekah Lodge.

Como, 826 Mechanic St., died Sunday morning in the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, Mass., where she underwent open heart surgery May 28 and June 12. She also underwent surgery five years ago in the Syracuse Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of 12 children. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Church, with Rev. John Ramsey, rector, officiating. Burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nichols Funeral Home. Surviving, besides her husband, are seven sons, Richard E., 26, Chicago, Ill., Christopher William, 25, Poughkeepsie, Edward Theodore, 22, Air Force, now home, Timothy W., 20, St. Lawrence University, Donald J., 15, Steven, 11, and Thomas J., 8; five daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Catherine) Ferguson, Ogdensburg, Barbara E., 17, Roberta Jean, 14, Ann Dorothy, 10, and Sylvia Ruth, 7; her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Walling Cayen, Ogdensburg; and a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Martin, Ogdensburg. Mrs. Como was born July 31, 1923, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Edward P. and Dorothy Walling Cayen. She was graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1942. She was married to Earl C. Como Nov. 5, 1942, at St. John's Church, with Rev. Charles E. Kennedy officiating. She was a member of St. John's Church and a former member of the church choir. She was a Girl Scout troop counselor, Troop 1.

Catherine Philomene Cayen: Frary Funeral Home (Ogdensburg, NY): Catherine F. "Fanny" Martin Smith, age 96, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021, at Riverledge Nursing Home. Fanny is survived by her two children, Robert A. Martin and his wife, Hope, of Ogdensburg, NY and David E. Martin and his wife, Janice, of Ogdensburg, NY; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, several step grandchildren and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fanny is predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Como and her husband, Thomas G. Smith. Fanny was born on January 9, 1925, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Walling Cayen. She attended local schools. Fanny married Joseph Martin on February 7, 1942 at St. John's Church. He predeceased her on August 20, 1987. Fanny later married Thomas G. Smith at St. John's Church in Ogdensburg, NY on May 26, 2007. He predeceased her on May 8, 2018. Fanny was employed at ACCO International Brands in Ogdensburg for fifteen years and later went to work for St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as an LPN for twenty years retiring in December of 1980. Fanny enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and loved cleaning her cars, including her Pontiac or Cadillac. She sang in the choir at St. John's Church for sixty-two years.
