Obituary: Merced Sun Star (Merced, CA), Thursday, 20 August 1998: Ernest A. Peat, a Merced resident for 15 years, died Aug. 13 in Merced. He was born Dec. 21, 1909 in Overly, N.D. He worked for Sunkist for 25 years as an office manager. Survivors include his daughters, Diana Rockholt of Merced, Virginia Dailey of Springfield, Ore., and Linda Dutra of Davis; two sons, Stephen Peat of Tupelo, Pa. and Michael Peat of Fresno; a sister, Alma Helmholz of Fresno; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home of Merced.

Obituary: The Sacramento Bee (Sacramento, CA) Wednesday, 7 September 2011: (photo) Connell, Mary Peat. Sept. 28, 1922 - Sept. 2, 2011. Died September 2, 2011 of age related causes. She was 88. Mary was born September 28, 1922 to Manuel and Virginia Machado in Ophir, Calif. She was an Auburn resident for many years and worked at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital. Married to Ernest Peat who died in 1998. Survivors include her second husband Ellis Connell; 3 daughters: Diana Rockholt (Ron), Virginia Dailey (David) and Linda Dutra (Manuel); 2 sons: Stephen Peat and Michael Peat (Lorraine); 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Auburn, CA. Interment will follow at the New Auburn Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Chapel of the Hills. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Diana was born November 17, 1939 to parents Ernest Peat and Mary Connell. She grew up in Auburn, CA with her siblings; Virginia, Linda, Stephen, and Michael. Diana taught first grade in Merced City School District for 28 years. Her students lovingly called her "Mrs. R". In retirement, Diana enjoyed daytrips to the mountains with her husband, Ron. Diana also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow. Diana is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ron Rockholt of Merced; son Jeff (Marianne) Rockholt of Merced; sisters Virginia (David) Dailey of Springfield, OR and Linda (Manuel) Dutra of Davis, CA; brothers Stephen Peat of Ambler, PA and Michael (Lorraine) Peat of Corinth, TX; grandchildren Joshua, Kaitlyn and Sarah of Merced. She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest Peat and Mary Connell. Viewing will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 am, followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced. Internment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Merced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
