MISC:  The Escanaba Daily Press (Escanaba, MI), Friday, 26 September 1947:  Mr. and Mrs. Denis Peters, 314 North 13th street, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary tomorrow by having a family reunion at their home.  Beside the immediate family, relatives from Detroit, Munising and Marinette will attend.  Mr. Peters came to this country from Pike Creek, Canada, which is just across the river from Detroit, when he was about thirty years old, directly to Escanaba.  Mrs. Peters came here from Marinette at the age of seven.  They were married at St. Ann's church by the late Father Joseph Menard, and have lived in the same home all during their married life.  The Peters have one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Collins, 113 North 14th street and two grandchildren, Kenneth, 320 North 15th street, and Dona who is employed in Milwaukee.  Despite their advanced years of eighty one and sixty nine, Mr. and Mrs. Peters are in good health and able to perform their own household tasks.  Mr. Peters retired from St. Paul repair yards twenty years ago.  The out-of-town guests who are attending the gathering are Mr. and Mrs. Albert Peters, of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Sullivan and son, John, of Marinette, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Chaput, of Munising.

 

Obituary:  The Escanaba Daily Press (Escanaba, MI), Wednesday, 10 March 1954:  (photo) Dennis Peters Dies at Hospital - Dennis M. Peters, 87, of 306 N. 13th St., died today at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Hospital.  Two weeks ago, he fell on the ice and suffered a fractured hip with complications setting in.  Born May 26, 1866 in Pike Creek, Canada, he came to Delta County as a young man and has been a resident of Escanaba for the past 50 years.  He was a retired St. Paul Railroad repairman.  Mr. Peters was a member of St. Anne's Church and L'Union Canadian French Society.  He is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Conley; one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Collins of Escanaba; one son, Bert Peters of Detroit; one foster son, Roland Sullivan of Marinette, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Friends may call at the Allo Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. Friday.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Church with Rev. Clifford Nadeau officiating.  Burial will be made in Holy Cross Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m.
