Joseph Peter Pitre: The Moncton Transcript (Moncton, NB), Friday, 24 June 1977: Rogersville - A 55-year-old Collette man died in a freak accident Wednesday night as he worked on a tractor in his garage. RCMP said Pierre Pitre was working on the tractor when his brother, Gerald (later corrected to Henry) 57, drove into the driveway and was unable to stop his car when the brakes failed. Police said the car hit the garage causing a heavy door to fall on his brother, breaking both his legs. The victim died after the door hit him, and he struck his head against the tractor. "He died almost immediately," the spokesman said, adding that the coroner who examined the victim ruled the cause of death as accidental due to multiple injuries. An autopsy and inquest were ruled unnecessary. Gerald (Henry) Pitre was returning home from Fredericton after attending a funeral earlier in the day, when the accident occurred at 8 p.m. Collette is three miles north of Rogersville.
