Obituary:  Press Republican (NY), Sunday, 17 February 2013:  Plattsburgh - Donald G. Peets, 94, formerly of Beekman Towers, West Plattsburgh and Ellenburg Center, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, with his family by his side, under the care of Hospice of the North Country.  He was born in Ellenburg Center on Sept. 10, 1918, the son of Lewis and Lena (Senecal) Peets.  Donald married the love of his life, Avah Lloyd on March 30, 1937, at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.  Together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Ellenburg Center until retiring in 1980.  Donald also worked for Agway for 14 years.  He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus in Ellenburg and a charter member of the Ellenburg Center Fire Dept.  Donald was predeceased by his wife, a son, Gary Peets; a sister, Mabel Peets; and three brothers, Floyd, Henry and Eugene.  He is survived by three children, Larry Peets and his wife Maureen of Plattsburgh, Phyllis Duval of Morrisonville and Diane Peets of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive him.  Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.  Burial will be later in the year in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg.  Donations in Donald's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh, New York.

Obituary:  Plattsburgh Press Republican (NY), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 - Plattsburgh - Avah R. Peets, 86, of Beekman Towers, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at her home.  She was born in Ellenburg on Jan. 30, 1920, daughter of the late George and Ethel (Gordon) Lloyd.  Avah had been a member of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg Center, St. Joseph's Church in Treadwells Mill and was currently a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.  She and her husband, Donald G. Peets owned and operated the family farm in Ellenburg Center until their retirement in 1980.  Avah was a former member of St. Edmund's Altar and Rosary Society and the Ellenburg Center Ladies Auxiliary.  Avah is survived by her husband, Donald G. Peets, they were married on March 30, 1937, in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg Center; three children, a son, Larry Peets and his wife Maureen of Altona and two daughters, Phyllis Duval of Morrisonville and Technical Sergeant Diane Peets, U.S. Air Force retired of Dallas, Texas; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ione See of Orchard Park and Opal and Irvin Beimler of Amherst; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bellamy Lloyd and his wife Verda of California and Elmo Lloyd of Buffalo; eight grandchildren, Karen and Daniel Relation of West Chazy, Kathy and Michael King of Ellenburg Depot, Kelly and Kelly Dragoon of Altona, Kurt Peets and his companion Terra of Chateaugay, Kim and John Vogt of Plattsburgh, G. Donald and Jamie Duval of Riverview, Rhonda Duval and her fiance David Curtis of Wilder, Vt., and Gregg and Michelle Duval of Saranac; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.  Avah was predeceased by a son, Gary Peets in 1959; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Peets.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh.  Burial will follow in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg Center.  Masses or donations to Hospice of the North Country may be offered in her memory.

Gary Louis Peets:  Chateaugay Record (NY), Thursday, 26 November 1959:  TRAGIC AUTO CRASH CLAIMS FOUR LIVES AT ELLENBURG - Four youths met instant death Friday night when the 1959 Ford Station Wagon in which they were riding collided with a utility pole and tree, breaking the car in two.  The accident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. on Route 11, one mile west of Ellenburg Corners.  Killed were: Gary F. LaBombard, 18, of Massena (formerly of Ellenburg). Lester J. Tracy, 18, of Ellenburg Center, Morris W. LaBombard, 15, of Ellenburg Center, Gary Peets, 17, of Ellenburg.  Termed by State Police who investigated as one of the worse accidents to occur in the North Country in many years.  Gary Louis Peets was born in Ellenburg September 6, 1942, a son of Donald and Ava Lloyd Peets and was a student at Ellenburg Central.  Besides his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Lloyd, Ellenburg; one brother, Lawrence, Burke; and two sisters, Phyllis and Diane, Ellenburg Center.
