Obituary: Forrest J. Pitre, age 84 years, expired April 1 at the E. Louisiana State Hospital, Jackson. He was a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Montegut. Mr. Pitre is survived by four sons, Horace of Baton Rouge, James, Norris and Lionel, all of Montegut; two daughters, Mrs. C. J. Crochet, Montegut, Mrs. Fulton Mayhan, Houma; and 19 grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Bertha Breaux Pitre, preceded him in death. Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, April 3, at 10 a.m. from the residence to Sacred Heart Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Chauvin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Corsentino Pitre; three sons, Forest Pitre and wife, Cherry, Horace "Pete" Pitre Jr. and wife, Penny, and Tommy Pitre; one daughter, Rosie Pitre Austin and husband, Don; one brother, Lionel Pitre Sr. and wife, Ponnie, of Montegut; two sisters, Rosalie Crochet of Montegut and husband, C.J., and Lucy Pitre Mahan of Houma; one sister-in-law, Helen Pitre of Montegut; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Breaux Pitre; his father, Forest Pitre; two brothers, Norris Pitre and Jimmy Pitre. Founder and 47-year board member of the Baton Rouge Mental Health Association, a past vice president, Central body of the City-Parish AFL-CIO, a member of the Eagles Club, UCT, a fourth degree Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus Council No. 3298, a member and usher of St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church of Greenwell Springs. James Pitre: Lafourche Daily Comet (LA), 16 July 2001: A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut for James "Jimmie" Pitre Sr., 83, a native of Houma and resident of Montegut, who died at 10:30 a.m. July 13, 2001. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Montegut. He was the special friend of Glinda Guillory; father of James Pitre Jr. of Houma and Gwynne May of Conroe, Texas; and brother of Horace Pitre Sr. of Baton Rouge, Lionel Pitre and Rosalee Crochet of Montegut and Lucy Mahon of Houma. He is also survived by three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Rhodes Pitre; parents, Forrest and Bertha Breaux Pitre; and brother, Norris Pitre. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 272. He was a retired employee of Texaco. Samart Funeral Home and Crematorium of Houma was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at the Montegut Fire Station. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut. He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Ellender Pitre of Montegut; four sons, Daniel Paul, Samuel Mark, Edward Joseph and Paul Allen Pitre, all of Montegut; one daughter, Madlyn Marie Pitre of Montegut; three brothers, James and Lionel Pitre, both of Montegut, and Horace Pitre Sr. of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Rosalie Crochet of Montegut, and Lucy Mahan of Houma; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Joseph and Bertha Breaux Pitre. He was a retired welder for Texaco, a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a member of American Legion Post No. 272, a member of Woodmen of the World and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
