Obituary:  Gouverneur Tribune Press (NY), Wednesday, 10 November 1976:  The funeral for Douglas E. Pete, 58, of 43 Main St., retired A&P store manager, who died Wednesday at his home were held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at the Newman Center with Rev. Bernard Kellogg, pastor, and Msgr. Floyd Brown, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Massena, officiating.  Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elsie Pete; a son, Emery, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Teasley of Mobile, Ala.; his mother, Mrs. Eva Brown, and a brother, Donald, both of Gouverneur, a grandson and several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Pete, a long-time employee of the A&P Food Store chain, who retired in 1971 as manager from the Potsdam store, was born March 29, 1918, at Gouverneur, son of Emery and Eva McCarthy Pete.  He graduated from Gouverneur High School and Diebert's Business School at Philadelphia.  He worked for A & P about 30 years including 26 years at Potsdam.  He married Elsie Snyder at Gouverneur on March 28, 1939.  Mr. Pete was a long-time Potsdam volunteer fireman, president of the Standing Wave Radio Club, secretary of REACT, a county emergency radio service, and founder and 20-year member of the local commercial bowling league.

Obituary:  Watertown Daily Times (Watertown, NY), Thursday, 4 September 1980:  Potsdam - Mrs. Elsie R. Pete, 65, of 43 Main St., retired bookkeeper and widow of Douglas Pete, died Wednesday in Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she had been admitted a week ago.  The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Bernard Kellogg, Potsdam Newman Center, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight and Friday afternoon and evening.  Surviving are a daughter, Martha Teasley, Irvington, Ala., a son, Emery, Loganville, Ga. and three grandchildren.  She was born in Watertown, Nov. 7, 1914, daughter of Alva and Martha Sanders Snider and was graduated from Watertown High School.  She was married to Douglas Pete, formerly of Gouverneur, March 29, 1939.  Mr. Pete died in November, 1976.  She had worked for several years at the Montgomery Ward store here and was employed most recently as a bookkeeper at the Lake Placid Inn, retiring two years ago.
