Notes for Charles Pitre:
- Charles Pitre's family fled Acadia sometime during 1750. They are found at Port la Joye, Ile St. Jean in the 1752 census. Charles Pitre 23 (ploughman), & wife Anne Henry 21 have just married in the February before the census. They have one cow, two pigs, and a sheep, and have cleared enough land to sow four bushels of wheat. The family was eventually deported to France and on 23 January 1759, Charles and Anne disembarked at St. Malo from one of the "Five Ships", their first three children having died at sea during the crossing. They lived in Pleurtuit until 1772, and had at least 6 more children.
The remaining family finally left France in 1785, 26 years after their arrival. They sailed on La Ville d'Archangel to Louisiana: Charles Pitre 56, wife Anne Henry 52, and children Joseph 19, Marguerite 15, Isabelle 11.
