Obituary: Lafourche Daily Comet (LA): Benson "T-Ben" J. Pitre, 86, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Raceland, died Jan. 22, 2003. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Hillary of Poitiers Catholic Church in Mathews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial at St Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. He is survived by his wife, Earline Z. Pitre; son, Daryl Joseph Pitre; daughter, Janale Comeaux and Leolia Trosclair; stepson, Gary Pertuit; sisters, Nell Baye, Mildred Thomassie, Ezola Fazzio, Bert Tauzin, Annabelle Pitre and Betty Shavor; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Stella Hebert Pitre; brothers, Cleveland, Wallace and Stanley Pitre; and sister, Eula Rodrigue. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 349, V.F.W. Post of Raceland, Woodman of the World and an usher at St. Hilary Catholic Church. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church.

Earline was a loving mother and grandmother who loved life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, g rowing vegetables and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. Her very favorite past time was spending time with her family. Her smiling face and laughter will be greatly missed by all that knew her. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of The Broadway Nursing Home for their kindness and dedicated care. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
