Rene Alphonse Pitre: Fair Haven Funeral Home
(Moncton, NB): Rene Alphonse Pitre 10 May 1931 – 23 Feb
2021 (photo) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father Rene
Alphonse Pitre on February 23, 2021. Predeceased by his sister Therese (Terry)
Fontaine; brother-in-law John Fontaine; and sister-in-law Marion Pitre. He will
be sadly missed by his loving wife, Eileen of 67 years; children Larry (Laurel),
Dean (Sandi), Cindy (Dale); grandchildren Jamie (Mike), Derek, Ian, Robin
(Kevin), Matthew (Lisa), Katy; and great-grandchildren Paige, Alexis, and Zack.
Dad was born May 10, 1931 to Jacqueline and Alphonse Pitre and was raised in St.
Boniface. He worked for Air Canada for 35 years in a variety of positions
starting as a Ramp Rat, removing luggage to stories of de-icing the aircraft in
-40 below weather and retiring from the airline as a Baggage Agent. He always
talked about his Air Canada family and many friends he had made over his career. Dad and Mom also enjoyed 25 years at Wendigo Lake where he would host family and
friends thru the summer months. He always welcomed you with open arms and made
sure you had a great time. When the sun went down that’s when the card games,
puzzles, and shananigans started. Often on these occasions, Dad would slip off
and head to bed earlier than the rest just so he could be ready to play host and
have the coffee ready. When your visit was up, he would always ask “When will we
see you again?” Rene and Eileen really loved the Lake Life. When Dad wasn’t
working, they could often be found out dancing or spending the night playing
cards with good pals, Mel and Maurice, and Frank and Yvonne. He really was a
people person and enjoyed these Saturday nights out. The family would like to
thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for their care, compassion, kindness, and
dignity shown to Dad throughout his stay. Due to Covid restrictions no service
will take place.
